What does "Made in Thailand" mean?
A logo indicating "This product is made in Thailand".
Made in Thailand (MiT) products are goods manufactured in Thailand using Thai resources and labor, and certified by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) as meeting ASEAN Content criteria. MiT products are considered “ASEAN CONTENT” products for which the FTI issues a certification document.
The MiT certificate, issued by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), a private sector organization recognized by the government, is used in government procurement to improve the quality of Made in Thailand products or to establish desired market quality standards.
MiT certification also benefits products exported to ASEAN countries, as it provides official evidence that the product meets ASEAN Content criteria.
The main benefits of obtaining MiT certification.
- Benefits of government procurement: Government agencies are required to purchase Thai products first.
- Increased product credibility; greater trust among traders and consumers.
- Creates an image of quality Thai products, aligning with the “Buy Thai” trend.
Key criterion: ASEAN Content ≥ 40%
Products eligible for MiT certification must have a raw material and labor cost sourced from ASEAN countries totaling at least 40% of the product price, calculated using a formula determined by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

Calculation formula
Criteria for evaluating Made in Thailand products.
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) uses three formulas for evaluation. Our team will help analyze which formula best suits your product.
Formula 1 — ASEAN Content (AC)
How to calculate the proportion of raw material and labor costs originating from ASEAN countries.
Calculation formula
AC = (ASEAN raw material price + labor cost) ÷ product price × 100
The result must be greater than or equal to 40%.
Formula 2 — HS Code Classification
Finished products must have a 4-digit (Heading) HS Code that is different from the raw material code, indicating that production and value addition took place in Thailand.
Example
Raw material: Steel sheet (HS: 7208) Finished product: Machine parts (HS: 8483)
HS Code changes Heading level → Meets criteria
Formula 3 — Substantial Transformation (ST)
If formulas 1 and 2 do not meet the criteria, consider whether the product has undergone significant changes in appearance and properties in Thailand, such as complex manufacturing processes, high-tech assembly, or processing that clearly adds value. Each case must be considered individually by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
