What is a GS1 barcode?
An international code that indicates "what this product is and where it comes from".
GS1 barcodes are an international standard product coding system used in 116 countries worldwide. They are issued by GS1, a non-profit organization that manages global product identification and supply chain systems.
In Thailand, GS1 Thailand (under the Federation of Thai Industries) issues membership numbers and barcodes to Thai businesses.
To sell products in modern trade outlets such as Makro, Lotus, BigC, or 7-Eleven, only GS1 barcodes are accepted.

Why are GS1 barcodes necessary?
